Top 5 things to do in Korca

1. Eat & Drink your heart out at Panda Brewery
April in Korçë is all about sitting outside and soaking in the fresh mountain air — and there’s hardly a better place to do that than at Panda Brewery (Birrari Panda), a place where the scent of blossoming trees mingles with the warmth of freshly poured craft beer and delicious food hot from the kitchen. If you are traveling with your kids, they can enjoy the playground area while you are taking a sip of cold beer, one of the best you have tasted as you will be in one of the best and oldest breweries in Korçë. Not to mention the delicious food with organic ingredients, whether your choice is qofte (Albanian-Style meatballs), pizzas, meat or salads, it is guaranteed you will be longing for these tastes and quality food once you live the country. Everything is made to complement the beer and the lively vibe of the place. Speaking of vibe — you will want to plan getting a table in Panda Brewery on a Friday or Saturday night, as that’s when Laxarela Live Music Nights take over the brewery, filling the space with a mix of acoustic tunes, Albanian folk rhythms, and local serenades (in case you didn’t’ t know, Korçë is known for its love serenades all across the country). It’s the perfect setting to sip, nibble, and soak in the local culture under a sky of string lights and chatter.

2. Unwind at Rinia Park
Whether you’re up for a relaxing afternoon picnic under the cherry blossoms or just want to sip a takeaway coffee while wandering its leafy paths, Rinia Park sets the perfect spring scene. The park is clean, peaceful, and full of benches, fountains, and soft green lawns—ideal for laying out a blanket and reading a book or chatting with your travel buddy. Families love it, couples stroll hand in hand, and solo wanderers find the perfect quiet corners to unwind. You’ll often catch a gentle breeze and the sound of kids playing or birds singing in the background—it’s pure springtime bliss. Grab some local snacks from a nearby bakery, or even better, a byrek and maybe even a bottle of Korça beer, and you’ve got the perfect laid-back afternoon.

3. Take a Stroll Through the Old Bazaar
A stroll at Korçë‘s Old Bazaar is a must do every month, especially in the spring and summer months. As you wander through the narrow cobblestone streets, you’ll be transported to a simpler era, where tradition and culture are woven into every shop, cafe, and stall. It’s a delightful mix of authentic Albanian craftsmanship, vibrant local life, and the soul of Korça itself. You can walk around and browse handmade fabrics, wooden crafts, and traditional ceramic pottery that carry the marks of local artisans. Take the time to stop a sit in one of the charming cozy cafés and relac with a cup of turkish coffee, the absolute favourite for Albanians, or a refreshing korça beer. It’s the perfect place to sit back and watch the locals go about their day, all while enjoying the old-world charm.

4. Visit the Korça Cathedral
This iconic church, with its impressive architecture, stands as a testament to both the city’s rich Orthodox Christian heritage and its cultural significance. Whether you’re an architecture enthusiast or simply in search of a peaceful moment, the cathedral is a must-see when exploring Korça in April. Built in the early 20th century, the cathedral’s neo-Byzantine style is awe-inspiring, with its grand dome and intricate frescoes that cover the interior. The serene beauty of the church’s sacred space offers a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Step inside and you’ll be welcomed by the calm atmosphere, the glow of candlelight, and the peaceful hum of prayers echoing through the stone walls. Whether you are an Orthodox or not, you will be surely amazed by the beautiful, peaceful interior of the Church which must not be missed! One of the highlights of visiting the Korça Cathedral is the stunning view of the surrounding area from the front steps, where you can take in the bustling square and the city’s scenic backdrop.

5. A ‘xhiro’ at the promenade of Korca
If you’ve spent even a single day in Albania, you know that Albanians are in love with their ‘xhiros’. What is a xhiro you might ask? It comes from the Italian word giro, and its meaning in this context is ‘taking a stroll’. It’s something that all Albanians are accustomed to, and its genesis is from the dark era of communism in Albania. So every evening, no matter the season, Albanians gather their friends, family, neighbors, and whomever they can find, and take a stroll, usually on the main promenade that stretches from the main Cathedral to the 360 Tower. Just slow walking from side to side, gossiping, enjoying the different aromas of the restaurants around, and just living life. Every day, 365 days a year (sometimes 366), from youngings to elders, and everyone in between.
Ps. The xhiro is a tradition you’ll find in every city.
