Tucked in a quiet corner of the city, this independent brewery is a favorite among locals and travelers alike. The interior is stylish and welcoming, mixing industrial-chic design with cozy wooden tables and dim, warm lighting, perfect for those summer afternoon hangs.
Whether you’re a craft beer enthusiast or just want to cool off, Panda Brewery is the place to be. It’s the live music every Friday and Saturday that really brings the place to life. Expect to hear the heartwarming sounds of Korçare serenades, the beloved traditional music of the region, as well as other familiar Albanian tunes that’ll have you swaying, or even dancing, before the night is over. There’s even a playground for kids, making it a family-friendly spot where everyone feels welcome.
Escape to Nature: A Peaceful Walk Through the Pheasant Forest
Just 10 kilometers from Korçë and 2 kilometers from the town of Maliq lies the enchanting Pheasant Forest (Pylli i Fazanëve). Spanning over 50 hectares, this lush woodland is a hidden gem, cherished by locals. The forest is home to a variety of wildlife, including pheasants, deer, wild rabbits, and foxes. Towering poplars, willows, lindens, pines, and firs create a refreshing environment, perfect for leisurely walks or picnics. Visitors can find wooden tables and benches scattered throughout, ideal for a relaxing meal amidst nature.
In the right season, wild blackberries can be spotted along the trails, adding a delightful touch to your adventure. June gets very lively, as many schools, have day-trips there and you will get to see children playing, running, laughing, as well as older people doing the same, as fun knows no age. You will feel very welcomed to join them and they will love that. Tip: If you want to travel on a budget, you get on a mini bus ( called fugon in Albanian) towards Pogradec or Maliq and ask the driver to drop you off in Maliq, from there you can use google maps and walk towards the forest, or some of the kind locals may give you a ride. If you wann do it like the Albanians, order a Turkish coffee as soon as you get in the Bazzar, sit in Komiteti or in any of the numerous cafes around, and just take your time to enjoy the morning warm breeze. If you are not in for that, you can just have a walk around the Old Bazaar and enjoy the morning sun-rays falling on the old-ottoman styles buildings and streets.
Grab a Kernackë Sandwich and Soak Up the Park Vibes
One of the simplest yet most satisfying ways to experience local life in Korçë is to grab a quick bite from one of the many street kiosks scattered around the city. For an authentic taste, go for a kernackë sandwich, a beloved local sausage made from minced meat and spices, grilled to perfection and tucked into fresh bread with your choice of toppings. It’s flavorful, filling, and incredibly affordable. Take your sandwich to Parku Rinia, the city’s lively central park, and find yourself a bench under the tall trees. This is where locals of all ages gather, mothers with strollers, elderly men playing chess, teens chatting over ice cream, and musicians occasionally strumming away on guitars. It’s a laid-back atmosphere where you can enjoy your food, people-watch, and soak in the sunny spirit of Korçë.
