Enjoy Beach Time in Clear Waters
June is an excellent time to enjoy Vlorë’s beaches before the peak tourist season. Arrive early to secure a spot, as both private and public beaches can fill up by mid-morning.
Radhimë Beach: A 20 minute drive from the city, the beach has a mix of public access and small private resorts. You can choose a quiet spot to lay down your towel or rent a sunbed and umbrella from one of the family-run hotels along the shore. Radhimë works well if you want something between the busy city beaches and the more remote southern spots. It’s clean, easy to reach, and still not overcrowded in June. Worried about renting? You can actually find some cheap options, or rely on the locals to give you a ride, which they wouldn’ t actually mind.
Orikum Beach: A 30 minute drive, Orikum offers a long, flat shoreline with calm, shallow water. It’s good for families or anyone looking for a simple, no-fuss swim. The beach has plenty of space and usually stays peaceful in June.
Plazhi i Ri (New Beach): Vlorë’s most accessible and active beach area. It stretches along Rruga Dhimitër Konomi, just a short walk or quick drive from the city center. The beach is a mix of private sections and public space. Many small hotels and cafes line the promenade, each with their own sunbeds and umbrellas for rent. Locals bring their own umbrellas and coolers and often swim early in the morning before work. The water is calm, warm by June, and safe for casual swimmers and families.
Narta Beach: Narta Beach lies about 20 minutes drive north of Vlorë, offering a quieter alternative to the city’s busier beaches. The beach is part of the Narta Lagoon area, a significant ecological site recognized for its biodiversity. The lagoon is home to various bird species, including flamingos, making it an attractive spot for nature enthusiasts.

Explore Rich History and Culture
Vlorë isn’t just about beaches. June is a great time to explore the city’s historical landmarks without the summer heat slowing you down.
Independence Monument: Marks one of the most important moments in Albania’s history—the declaration of independence from the Ottoman Empire on November 28, 1912. The monument stands in Flag Square (Sheshi i Flamurit), surrounded by palm trees and government buildings. It features Ismail Qemali, the leader of the independence movement, holding the Albanian flag high. The statue is bold and direct, capturing the pride of that day without unnecessary decoration.
Independent Museum: Right next to the monument, visit the Independence Museum. It’s located in the actual building where the declaration was signed. Inside, you’ll find original documents, photos, and items used by the delegates.
Muradie Mosque: Alone makes it worth a visit.Built in the 16th century by architect Mimar Sinan, one of the Ottoman Empire’s most important architects. That alone makes it worth a visit. Its stone walls and red-tiled dome stand out in the city center. Step inside if it’s open—you’ll see preserved Ottoman-era details and quiet simplicity.
Kanina Castle: On a hill about 6 km southeast of Vlorë. You can reach it by car in 15 minutes or hike up if you’re up for a short challenge. In June, go early in the morning to avoid the heat and catch clear views over the city and the Adriatic coast. The site dates back to the 3rd century BC and has seen Illyrian, Byzantine, and Ottoman use. What remains today are thick stone walls, towers, and walkways that give you a sense of its defensive role. No entrance fee, and no souvenir stands or distractions. You’ll often have the place almost to yourself. Bring water, wear good shoes, and plan to stay at least 30 minutes.
