Due to its geographical position, it is often referred to as the ‘balcony of Maqellara’, as it offers a wide view over the Drin valley and the Maqellara area. Pocest comes from Turkish language, meaning pure. The first clan was the Shatku, while other clans came after the Turkish occupation, which led to conflicts inside tribes. And to avoid incidents, they relocated from Lura and other areas and settled in this place, Pocest.

Pavlica – the square in the centre is named after the priest Pavli before the Turkish occupation, while the church is on the way to the mountain (gaber).
Toponyms: gaber, jakovska, kutlina, arra kaurit, the stream of besenices, dobrova, the bigur springs and tremniku.
The village has a rich history and is known for its hospitality and traditions preserved by women and the youth.
” Auntie’s noodles ” is an initiative by Aunt Liria with a group of women who preserve and promote the traditions of local cuisine and craftsmanship, especially jufkat – with traditional handmade dough.
This group of women, through their work and dedication, not only preserves an ancient cooking tradition but also passes it on to younger generations.
The name of ” Auntie’s noodles ” is linked to the respect of the figure of Aunt Liria as a bearer of tradition, hospitality, and the promotion of Dibra cuisine even outside of Dibra.
The square ” The boys of Pocest ” is associated with the pride that the residents have for their sons who improved the cobbled streets and squares of the village. Most of them have emigrated abroad since many years ago.
